Mary Gipson

Mary Ethel Gipson was born to Johnny Torry and Annie Mae Ford on July 15, 1952, in Yazoo City, Mississippi. As a young woman, Mary would later move to Chicago, Illinois, to attend Triton college. Mary would go on to become a certified healthcare aid, working at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital. Later in life, she would attend to the residents at Wesley Acres. On June 14, 1974, Mary and Lee Gipson were united in marriage in Chicago, Illinois. The family would eventually relocate to Iowa, to raise their family.

Throughout the week, Mary would take care of their home. She loved to work in her vegetable garden. The family fondly remembers her collard greens and cabbage, as well as her Jambalaya. In the mornings, she loved to watch "The Price Is Right", "The Young and The Restless" and "The Bold and The Beautiful". She also loved to go shopping and take the occasional trip to Memphis, Tennessee. Mary also loved old school music and gospel.

She is preceded in death by her father, Johnny Torry; and her Step-Mother.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Lee Gipson; children, Maurice Ervin Gipson, Tammie Marie Gipson, Lee Kevin Gipson; siblings, Mondell Williams, Mable Ann Torry and Tina Torry; grandchildren, Angela Gipson and Devan Lee Gipson. Visitation
