Dorothy Turner passed away on April 9, 2023. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023 at the Henderson's Chapel from 5:00-7:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at the Henderson's Chapel starting at 11:00am.
Dorothy Mae Turner was born October 31, 1934 in Iowa to Rosetta Emery Berry and Theodor Emery. Dorothy was educated in the Des Moines Public School System. Dorothy was a long time member of Kyles AME Zion Church. As a child she was the Sunday School Secretary and then later joined the Adult choir.
Dorothy loved traveling. She went to Italy, North and South Dakota, Canada, California, Florida and Georgia. She liked listening to gospel music, the blues and playing cards with the family. Dorothy was a good cook and could cook anything. The family enjoyed her meatballs and spaghetti. Dorothy had a generous heart. She couldn't see a child go without. She had a big family but they always had enough to share with someone less fortunate.
On April 9th, 2023, Dorothy Mae Turner was called home to be with the Lord. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; Theodor Emery and Rosetta Berry, husband; Shedrick Turner, grandparents; Preston Emery, Fannie Emery, George Lee Price and Matilda Price; sisters, Diane Daye and Linda Williams, and her son; Gary Lee Western.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her precious memories, her children, Roxanne Harper, Ronnie Williams, Earl Williams, Jerry Williams and Dustin Williams, Alisa Turner, Diamond Turner, Alden Turner, Marcee Turner and Jerry Williams, along with a host of grand and great grand children.
