Nya Kouquoi

Mr. Nya Kouquoi was born on May 17, 1938, to Roland and Berniece (Allen) Chambers, in Grand Cape Mount County, Liberia West Africa. He was educated in the local school system and graduated from the Booker T. Washington Institute. He continued his education at Technical College where earned his Bachelors Degree. He was currently working to earn a Master's Degree.

Nya was blessed with six children, Ben, Bill, Sasfia, Foster, Precious and Edith. All of whom he loved dearly. In 2002, he made another addition to his family when he married Evangeline. The two would share love and life together until she passed away in November of 2014.

Nya worked in the welding and teaching fields. While living in Liberia, he worked at the Monrovia Votech Center and at the Civic Center here in Des Moines, IA.

Mr. Kouquoi was known to be a quiet, humble but very intelligent man. He was a very handsome and likable man; traits that made him popular with the ladies. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He always remembered everyone's birthdays.

Nya answered the Master's call and transitioned from time into eternity on December 14, 2014. He was greeted on the other side by his wife, Evangeline and his parents, Roland and Berniece.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Edith Chambers Kouquoi, Bencully Chambers, Bill Chambers, Sasfia Chambers, Foster Chambers and Precious Chambers and a host extended family and close friends.
